Every photograph here comes from Wikimedia Commons. Each was checked not only for its licence, but for what it actually depicts.
A photo of a ferry is not a photo of this ferry. We therefore use only images whose description on Commons explicitly identifies this crossing, these ramps or these places. Where no honest free photograph exists, we publish an illustration rather than a generic image under a caption that would claim a location.

What these licences require
Creative Commons BY and BY-SA licences allow reuse, including commercially, provided the author and licence are credited alongside the work. That is why a credit line appears under each photo on the site and not only on this page. Public domain images carry no obligation; we credit the author anyway.
Something to correct?
If an attribution is incomplete, or a licence has changed on Commons, write to us and we will correct or remove the image.
