Ferry fares 2026
Fares are set by the Gironde department and changed on 1 April 2026. They are worked out per person by age, then per vehicle, and the two are always added together.
A car with one person on board costs €31 in high season and €19 from November to March. A foot passenger pays €6. The rest of this page explains how that total is built, because a vehicle fare never includes the people inside it.

Out of season
From November to March fares drop noticeably: a car with its driver comes to €19 instead of €31. The detailed winter grid by category is not published anywhere we can verify, and we would rather show nothing than an approximate figure. The total above is confirmed.
Paying on board or online
Payment is taken on board during the crossing, by bank card, cash or chèques-vacances. Tickets can also be bought through the department's online shop. Be clear about what that does not mean: a ticket bought in advance does not reserve a place. You join the queue like everyone else, and if the sailing is full you wait for the next one.
Compared with driving
Not taking the ferry means 79 km around Bordeaux and about 1 hr 15 min, with no tolls, which works out at roughly €9 of fuel in a petrol car. So the ferry is faster, and once there are two of you it is not far off on cost either. The full comparison.
Over 3.5 t there is no fare at all
A motorhome or a car-and-caravan combination above 3.5 t cannot board this line at any price. Check the gross vehicle weight on your registration document. Weight and size limits, and the Royan line that takes lorries.
Questions about fares
Does the car fare include the driver?
No, and this is where nearly everyone miscalculates. The vehicle fare covers the car alone. The driver is charged separately at the foot passenger rate, like any other passenger. A car with one person on board is €31 in high season, not €25.
Where do you pay?
On board, once the vehicle is loaded, by card, cash or French holiday vouchers. Tickets are also sold online through the department's shop. Neither reserves a place on a particular sailing.
Are fares cheaper out of season?
Yes. From November to March a car with its driver drops from €31 to €19, a third less. The category-by-category winter grid is not published on an official source, so we do not invent it.
Can I pay by card?
Yes, bank cards are accepted on board, as is cash and the French chèques-vacances scheme. There is no need to have euros in coins, though a card reader on a boat in an estuary is not immune to a bad signal.
